Additionally, BOTOX® is a temporary treatment producing results that typically last three to four months. To maintain your results and prevent more wrinkles from developing, we recommend repeating treatment every 12 to 16 weeks.
What To Expect for BOTOX® Treatment
BOTOX® is an FDA-approved, minimally invasive treatment. In most cases, the injections only take about 10 to 15 minutes to perform. You’ll be asked to refrain from certain substances and medications in the weeks leading up to your appointment, including alcohol, blood thinners, and any anti-inflammatories.
On the day of your procedure, we’ll take you back to our comfortable cosmetic treatment area and answer any questions you might have. We’ll administer a series of small injections in the areas you want to treat. You might feel a slight pinch with each injection, but the injections require a small needle and only cause slight discomfort.
Following your appointment, you can likely return to work and other everyday activities with some moderation. It’s recommended that you refrain from lying down for at least three hours and avoid vigorous activity for the first 24 hours after BOTOX® injections. You’ll also need to avoid wearing a hat, headband, or anything else that might put pressure on the treatment area.
It’s common to experience minimal side effects, such as swelling or bruising where you were injected. While rarer, you may also get a headache, have dry eyes, or feel flu-like symptoms in the days following the treatment. If you notice problems with your vision or are struggling to speak, breathe, or swallow, call your doctor right away.
